Chickens are Scary!
You see, I’m one of those people who’s spent a lifetime accumulating useless bits of knowledge as though I’ll be able to stave off carjackers by telling them that a peanut isn’t really a nut but a legume. While this means I have tons of random trivia to
bore amaze my friends with, it also means that I have more facts crammed in my head than sources.
It also means that I have no idea what tidbits up here are actually true and what was total BS that someone decided to share one day.
I don’t remember exactly who told me the bit about the chickens, but I do remember what I thought. I immediately started hearing the voice of Pinky (from Pinky and the Brain) repeating this fact in my head. If you’re familiar with the show, it probably sounds like something he’d say, right before he starts asking where he’ll find rubber pants in his size.
I LOVE Pinky and the Brain.
Anyway. It’s really not so difficult to believe that people would be scared of chickens. I’m a little weird when I get around animals that are bigger than me. Okay, I’m weird all the time, but there’s something intimidating about an animal that could crush the life out of you just because it takes a nap without realizing you’re there first.
Can’t say I’m afraid of chickens though.
And, it’s really a good thing they specified these were live chickens. Otherwise, I’d be envisioning people shrieking in terror at fancy restaurants and jumping up on their chairs because someone at the next table ordered the chicken parm.
Hmm…That might sound even more Pinky-esque.
So, 30% of all people are afraid of live chickens. Have fun amazing your friends with that.
This has been a trip into the scary world I inhabit inside my head. You should probably be glad you don’t live here too. It’s a highly random and distracting place.
You may now return to hunting the internet for pictures of cats.
