Of Wishes and Rainbows Release

Posted by on Aug 20, 2014 in Events | 1 comment

Of Wishes And Rainbows coverLast week, I quietly released a short story out into the world. Normally, it’s all fanfare and drum rolls with me, but not this time. This ebook release was special to me.

So why wouldn’t I largely keep it to myself? Perfect sense, right?

When I was a little girl visiting my dad and stepmother in California for the summers, we’d take these road trips from the San Diego area up to Bakersfield to visit my aunt. At the time, I was told that it should take us about four hours each way. The reality was that the “shortcut” through the desert would actually double our time on the road.

Now that I think about it, I was nine or ten at the time, so I wasn’t all that little. Regardless, eight hours is still a long time for anyone to sit in a car with nothing to look at except dusty roads and rocks.

How Much Sex Is Too Much?

This might be too much

This might be too much

If you thought I was going to help you figure out whether you’re a sex addict in this blog post, you’ll be sad to learn that I’m not qualified to do that. Google is probably going to be your friend. Although, I am more than qualified to sing “Everything is Awesome” at you while manically dancing like a lego person, which may not actually be very useful to your needs…though it does give me an excuse to sing the damned song that’s been stuck in my head since seeing the movie over the weekend.

So, anyway. We’re talking about sex in fiction today. More specifically, we’re talking about how much sex it takes to kill a story.

But we’re not talking about erotica. I’m led to believe that there’s no such thing as too much sex in those stories. I mean, I’m under the impression that there wouldn’t be much to the stories if they didn’t have loads of sex, so…let’s just exclude that one since it’s going to throw off the curve in kind of a dramatic way.

In fact, I’m probably only going to touch on romance, romantic suspense, suspense and mystery. Why? Because that’s what I’ve been publishing for the last 17 months. We can talk about vampire/were-cat sex in the comments if you really want to, but I’m going to stick to what I know for the post, if you don’t mind.

Sizzling Summer Sexy Suspense Sale

Posted by on May 27, 2014 in Events | 0 comments

BiG SALEOkay, y’all, I know that summer doesn’t technically start until late June, but Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer where I’m from. Also, a Sizzling Spring Sale doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. Either way, I’ve got all kinds of yummy fiction deals for you today.

In fact, this is the single largest sale that Random Distraction Publishing has ever run, but I’ll get to that after the sale announcement.

Today, May 27 through Saturday May 31, FORESIGHT IS FLAWLESS is totally free. Yes, I still only have this one available for Kindle, but the book is DRM-free, so you could easily convert it to something your other devices can read. Or you could download the free Kindle app. Whatever floats your summer fun boats.

But just having one free book isn’t much of a sizzling sale, is it?

That’s why I’m running Kindle Countdown deals on each of the other books in the Undercover Series! Let’s run through the deals book by book:

There has quite literally never been a better time to dive into the Undercover Series. If you act fast, you could get all four sarcastic sexy suspense books for what you’d pay for just one of them.

But that’s not the only reason this is the most massive sale we’ve ever done. Typically, a new release of mine doesn’t get a sale price (other than on release day) for at least three or four months. LOVE LIES BLEEDING has only been out for a month, but you can’t have a truly sizzling sale if you don’t include everything so…here we are.

Oh, just in case you aren’t familiar with the way Kindle Countdown deals work, they basically reward those who take action quickly with lower prices. They start at the prices above and then gradually increase by $1 until they get back to the regular list price. When you go to the ebook’s page on Amazon, it will have a clock running to show you how much time you have left to act to get the current sale price.

The Countdown sales are actually running for a few more days than the free book promotion, but definitely don’t wait if you want to get the best deals on this series.

For your convenience, I’ve included links to each book’s Amazon page above, but you can also find all my books in one place by visiting my Amazon Author Page.

Happy Reading, y’all!

P.S. – Feel free to tell your friends about the sale or share your purchases on Facebook/Twitter using the option Amazon gives you once you download one of my books. This isn’t like my secret book launch day sale, so everyone can get in on those sweet sweet savings. ;)

P.S. Take 2: This message was brought to you by the letter S and the number FREE.

Creating the Undercover Series

Posted by on May 21, 2014 in Inside the Book | 2 comments

undercoverseriesVECTORAs the first books I thought to release out into the world, I’m slightly attached to the Undercover Series. In one way or another, I’ve been working within its created world for the last 12 years. Not only do I know what’s happened to everyone on the page, but I know their backstories and what’s still in store for them. I also know all the rules for the universe in which all these characters live as though I lived there myself, making it a breeze for me to come back to the characters after a long break from writing them and pick up where I left off.

But it occurs to me, y’all don’t have all this inside information. Let’s start to change that, shall we?
